Mission Statement
The mission of the Foley Public Schools is to bring together students, parents, staff, and community to provide a quality education with an emphasis on developing the full potential of the individual.
 
The following sets of goal statements are to be considered educational principles to guide practice, planning, and policy at Foley Public Schools. The School Board reserves the right to emphasize specific goals for a given time frame or to develop specific goals that are a combination of these principles and specific conditions.
 
In order to achieve this mission, Independent School District No. 51 has adopted the following educational goals, applicable to students of all ages:

District Goals 2017-18
Goal 1: Implement and further develop the Strategic Plan
    1.1    Develop “Core Values” for Foley Public Schools
    1.2    Engage Foley School Community including community, staff, students in the development and identification of core values.
    
Goal 2: Successfully implement components of Infinite Campus
    2.1    Establish curriculum planning through Infinite Campus
    2.2    Improve communications through IC Messenger
    2.3    Establish 4 year planning for FHS students through IC
    2.4    Explore Infinite Campus data warehouse

Goal 3:  Increase Student Achievement levels
    3.1    Norm our district at 80% -15% - 5% proficiency levels
    3.2    Grade 3-8 MCA proficiency levels under 70% would require a rigorous response
    3.3    Utilize District Professional Development Day as a conduit for data review
    3.4    Commit to an “equity promise” where every student is challenged at their current level of understanding.
    
Goal 4: Embrace a philosophy of continuous improvement throughout the school system
    4.1    Continue to support Standards Based Instruction
        4.1.1    Establish Formative Assessment, Institutionalize learning targets, focus on Power  Standards
        4.1.2    Overview presentations of Standards Based Instruction
        4.1.3    Begin to examine grading practices and philosophies
    4.2    Establish systems that support the educational mission of the school district
        4.3.1    Articulate the mission of educating “all students” at high levels
        4.3.2    Commitment to intervention and gifted programming
        4.3.3    Establish methods to evaluate school readiness
    4.3    OPEB
        4.3.1    OPEB recommendation group will be established
        4.3.2    Recommendations from National Insurance will be reviewed
        4.3.3    Funding for transition will be accrued
        4.3.4    Win/win situations will be explored
        4.2.5    A path forward will be established
