Outdoor Learning Center: Seeds to Forest

Among the many learning opportunities offered at Foley Public School is our Outdoor Learning Center, located on the Foley School Campus. We developed the Seeds To Forest Program in October of 2002, initially funded by the MN Dept. of Education with three main components; Development of an Outdoor Learning Site, purchase of materials for use at the site, and curriculum writing that incorporates the use of this site when teaching Pre K - 12 science curriculum. Additional funds and donations were received from Pheasants Forever, Bauerly Brothers, Exxon, Kiwanis, ECE, & ISD #51. The Outdoor Learning Center is used by all grade levels for learning about nature with a hands-on approach. The site includes multiple walking paths, different types of trees, a large-group seating area, potting sheds & potting tables.
