FHS Scholarship News


Students are reminded to check here often for scholarship opportunities. As we become aware of them, we will post in the Daily Announcements and here on the website. Once they expire, they will be removed.


StudentScholarship.org will give out more than 1 million dollars to students in the 2016/17 school year.  Students from Minnesota school districts are eligible.  Go to www.studentscholarships.org to apply and for more information and deadlines.


Avanti is offering 3 - $1,000 scholarships for female students.  Go to their links if you would like to apply and review.   

St. Cloud Hospital Halenbeck Fund will award scholarships for students pursuing a career in health care. To be eligible for consideration, applicant must: be a high school senior enrolling in a health care-related degree program; have a grade point average of 2.8 or above; demonstrate involvement in community, school, or work activities.  See Sabine in the Guidance Office for application and more information. 


Seniors: State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship: Students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.  Applicants must meet the following criteria: be a 2017 graduating high school senior, GPA between 2.5 and 3.2,  plan to enroll full-time for the 2017-18 academic year at an accredited 2-or4-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Seniors: if you are optimistic and are attending a postsecondary institution (2-year or 4-year college) see Sabine in the guidance office for the St. Cloud Morning Optimist Club Scholarship application. Must complete essay on how you have demonstrated Optimism in your life by Monday, April 3rd. Note: This is not the same scholarship as seniors did in Mr. Bang's class.


Scholarships through “Unite for Success” Scholarship Program. Glenn J. Imholte Memorial  - must be planning a major in a business-related area. SCSU Business Student Executive Council - must be attending SCSU and majoring in business. Bernick’s - volunteer, leadership and G.P.A. of 3.0 or above (note, not the same scholarship as the Bernick's through CMCF). Please see Sabine in the Guidance Office for an application and more information. Deadline: March 24th, 2017.


Seniors: Scholarship Opportunity: For students who are children or grandchildren who are descendants and/or relatives of veterans of the Vietnam war. See Sabine in the Guidance Office for the Juli Bailey/Mark Madsen Scholarship Application or go to www.vvachapter290.org.


The Tom Bearson Foundation has created the Tom Bearson Foundation Spirit Award / Scholarship to recognize the achievements, dedication, and positive spirit put forth by a Central Minnesota student athlete. The Tom Bearson Foundation will award a $2,500 scholarship and a beautiful crystal trophy to the student athlete (boy or girl) that best represents those attributes. See Sabine in the guidance office for a paper copy or go to www.tombearson.org/spirt-award  to download the application. Deadline: May 15, 2017.

 Federated Challenge Scholarship:  A scholarship for up to $5,000 for students to attend a non-four year education or training program at an accredited Minnesota post-secondary school that focuses on obtaining an apprenticeship, certificate or associate’s degree.  Deadline to apply is May 1st.

WWBD Memorial Scholarship: $500 scholarship to a college of their choice.  This scholarship was created in honor of BriAnna Kruzel (a former Little Sister and High School Big Sister), who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in September 2013.  Deadline to apply is April 1stBig Brothers Big Sisters Nursing Scholarship: Thanks to a generous donor Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to offer a scholarship for students studying to be a registered nurse.  The award amount will change each year but minimum amount will be $500. Deadline to apply is May 1st.

Seniors: We have 3 new scholarships in memory of Jade Posterick.  1 - $300 scholarship for students who are attending an institution of higher learning, university, college or vo tech for the 2017-2018 school year. Also, 2 - $250 scholarships to any class of 2017 student who will enter the workforce, military or higher education, volunteer or other.  Please see Sabine in the Guidance Office for the scholarship applications. 



Seniors: Santiago Lions Memorial Scholarship - The Lions will be awarding 3 - $500.00 Scholarship - One to Becker, Princeton and Foley School.   See Sabine in the Guidance Office for the application. DEADLINE: Must be to the Guidance Office by Thursday, April 13, 2017.


MN State Coaches Association Scholarship  - The Minnesota State High School Association will again be awarding $1000 scholarships to deserving student athletes from Minnesota High Schools. See Sabine in the Guidance Office for a application.  Deadline: Must be postmarked no later than March 28th, 2017.



Seniors: New Scholarship - Federated Coop Inc. Scholarship - $400 - The recipient or the recipient parents must be a customer of Federated Coop.  Student must enroll in a university, college, vocational school or other accredited institution of high learning in the 2017-18 school year. Preference given to a student who will study Agronomy, Agriculture or Business.  Please see Sabine in the Guidance Office for an application. Deadline: April 17, 2017.
