Another good source of scholarship information is the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. They have an extensive list of scholarships available to students in the Central Minnesota area. Not all these scholarships are available to Foley students but many are. You are able to refine your list by high school. At this time the CMCF lists the following scholarships for Foley High School. Juniors & Seniors: East Central Energy (ECE) will send two students to Washington, D.C. for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, June 9-14, 2018. This all-expense-paid trip helps students understand our government and its role in the history of rural electric cooperatives. Students visit the Capitol and meet their senators and representatives, tour our nation’s monuments and museums and meet other teens from around the country. You are able to complete the entire process electronically and return the materials by email. Application packets must be completed and returned to ECE by February 12. Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges, and the top two students will each receive the trip to Washington, D.C.
GE-REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Each year, the program selects roughly 20 college-bound students who excel in leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship to receive $10,000 renewable scholarship - up to $40,000 total per recipient. 2018 National High School Essay Contest - The winner receives $2,500, a trip to Washington, D.C., to meet a member of the State Department leadership and a full scholarship for a semester at sea education voyage. The runner-up receives $1,250 and a full scholarship to attend the International Diplomacy Program of the National Student Leadership Conference. Detail at www.afsa.org/essaycontest. Seniors: George W. Friedrich Scholarship - 2 - $500.00 scholarships to a Lion’s District 5M-8 high school senior. You must submit a ONE PAGE typed essay explaining “How you have and how you will continue to serve your community and the people within it.” You can pick up an application with the criteria for this scholarship in the guidance office. All applications must be sent directly from Foley High School. DEADLINE: March 1, 2018.
Seniors: The Tom Bearson Spirit Award - this Scholarship was created to recognize the achievements, dedication, and positive spirit put forth by a Central Minnesota student athlete. The Tom Bearson Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship and a beautiful crystal trophy to the student athlete (boy or girl) that best represents those attributes. This award will be presented at the Times Media Awards Banquet in June 2018. Please see Sabine in the Guidance Office for an criteria and application. DEADLINE: Postmarked by May 15, 2018.
Seniors: James W. Tracy Scholarship: Must be enrolled or plan to be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary school in the U.S. Must plan to pursue an academic award (certificate, diploma or degree) in agriculture or animal husbandry. The application is located on the Minnesota FFA Foundation's website under the Scholarship & Opportunities tab. To date we have awarded 26 - $1,000 scholarships to Minnesota students as a result of James Tracy's generosity through this program. Seniors: The Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is the largest undergraduate scholarship to high achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nations best 4-year colleges and universities. Seniors Girls: Minnesota Women’s Golf Association Foundation Scholarship (MWGA). Must have a 3.2 GPA or above and a copy of the FAFSA form must be included showing the parents income level for the past year. The MGWA Scholarship is based on scholastic rating , financial need, and quality of character as demonstrated by academic and civic activities and achievements. Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not a criterion, candidates shall demonstrated an involvement in the sport. See Sabine in the Guidance Office for a copy of the application. Seniors: Hagen Scholarship Foundation - A need based, merit scholarship for high achieving students who will require financial assistance. Must have a 3.50 G.P.A. and an ACT score of 23 or higher. ACT College & Career Readiness Champions $500 Scholarship. This award will be given to a student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions, must have a composite ACT score of a 22 or a 3.0 or greater grade average.
